This site is best view with Internet Explorer 5.5 or greater or Netscape 6 or greater. Most of our documents are in PDF format and require that you have a PDF reader. A free PDF reader can be downloaded from Adobe. In order for this site to function correctly, you need to enable "cookies" in your browser. Cookies are small files that web sites on the Internet create and maintain on your computer. Cookies are a very useful web tool for allowing customers to be recognized as repeat customers and can take the drudgery out of online shopping. |

| Customizing the Site |
Choosing your Product Range/Brand(s) |
| The information that is displayed in the menus can be customized according to your preferred product range. EMD is comprised of the brands Calbiochem, Novabiochem and Novagen. By selecting "Narrow Product Range" or "Broaden Product Range" from the Products menu it is possible to display only information and menu options that are relevant to your Brands of choice. |

The country you select determines the currency displayed by the site. You do not need to see login to see prices, however if the price of a product shows as N/A please select your coutnry from the dropdown list above product information table. The screen will then automatically refresh to show the list price in the correct currency. If your specific account receives a discount, please log in to view your price after the discount has been factored in.
If you accidentally choose the wrong country, you can go to our Corporate Splash Page and change your selection. Additionally, the country you select also determines which currency version of a PDF document will be available to you. No Price versions of downloadable literature are the default choice when no country is selected or when we do not offer literature in your chosen country's currency. |

| The EMD search engine follows the same search parameters as most of the major internet search engines. Unless otherwise noted, the following apply: |

Helpful Search Tips |
| • All searches are not case sensitive. |
| • Greek characters can be searched for using either the corresponding Roman letter, or by spelling out the Greek character. (ex: nfkb can be searched for using either nfkappab or nfkb) |
| • Words separated by spaces are searched anywhere on the page and it assumed that all words must exist on the page to be matched. (ex: a product keyword search for map kinase inhibitor will locate any product with the words map, kinase and inhibitor regardless of order) |
| • Words enclosed in quotation marks are considered to be phrase matches. (ex: a product keyword search for "map kinase inhibitor" will locate any product with the exact phrase map kinase inhibitor) |
| • Product and category name searches may hit anywhere inside of the name. (ex: a product name search for proteomics will find the same category as a search for roteomics) |
| • Keyword searches must match the first part of a word inside of the product. (ex: a keyword search for proteomics will not return the same results as a search for roteomics) |
| • If words may have multiple suffixes, try leaving off the suffix. (ex: a keyword search for inhibit will find all forms of inhibit, including: inhibits, inhibitor, inhibitors and inhibiting) |
| • The special search keywords AND and OR may be used to specify alternate words in a search. (ex: a product keyword search for proteomics or "protein kinase inhibitor" will locate any product with the word proteomics or the phrase protein kinase inhibitor) |

Search Types |
Product Name: Returns any categories or products whose name includes your search criteria.
Catalog Number: Returns all products having catalog numbers matching your criteria. (Hint #1: Enter only the first part of a catalog number to return multiple results. Hint #2: Enter multiple catalog numbers separated by spaces to return multiple results.)
CAS Number: Returns all products having a CAS number matching your criteria. (Hint #1: Enter only the first part of a catalog number to return multiple results. Hint #2: Enter multiple catalog numbers separated by spaces to return multiple results.)
Molecular Formula: Returns all products having a molecular formula matching your criteria. (Hint #1: Enter only letters and numbers. For water you would enter H2O.)
Product Keyword(s): Returns all products having the keywords in them. This searches product descriptions and also includes the Product Name search. (Hint #1: See above for hints on keyword searches.)
MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): Returns all MSDSs for the catalog numbers entered as criteria. (Hint #1: Enter only the first part of a catalog number to return multiple results. Hint #2: Enter multiple catalog numbers separated by spaces to return multiple results.)
Certificate of Analysis by Lot Number: Returns all Certificates of Analysis for the lot numbers entered as criteria. (Hint #1: Lot numbers must exactly match the number as displayed on your product.)
Technical Resources: Returns all technical documents having the keywords in them. This searches PDF files and images associated with products and also includes the Product Name search. (Hint #1: See above for hints on keyword searches.)
All: Includes Product Name, Product Keyword(s) and Technical Resources searches as defined above. |

| Finding Product Prices and Availability |
Enter the catalog number or product name into the search box on any page. Make sure that the appropriate option is selected in the dropdown list and click search. If you searched by product name the search may return more than one result. Select the link for the product you require. Towards the bottom of the resulting product detail page is a table indicating the sizes that are available, whether or not the product is in stock, and the price. If price is shown as N/A, please select the correct country from the dropdown list above the availability table. For additional information on how pricing is displayed depending on your country of choice, please click here. Please contact customer service if the information you require is not displayed. *Please note, we do not display new products on the web until they have been stocked. If you are interested in a new product that is in one of our publications, but not displayed on the web, please contact customer service for the estimated stock date, pricing, or to place a pre-order. |

| Finding Product Documentation (Product Data Sheets, User Protocols, MSDS's and C of A's) |
Product Data Sheets, User Protocols, Materials Safety Data Sheets and Certificates of Analysis are all available online. To find these documents for a specific product, please enter the catalog number for the product into the search box on any page, select the required option from the dropdown list and click search. Alternatively, each product detail page has these documents available for download. To find a Certificate of Analysis, enter the lot number (batch number) into the search box, select "Certificate of Analysis by Lot Number" from the dropdown list and click search. Please contact technical service if you are unable to locate the document you require. |

| Ordering |
Online Ordering |
All Calbiochem, Novabiochem, and Novagen products can be purchased online, often for next day delivery. To order products online: 1. Create your web account
Click here or select Ordering>>Online Ordering>>Create an Account. Fill in all the required fields and click save at the end of each form. Once you have completed this process you will not need to re-enter these details when placing orders. 2. Add products to your shopping cart
There are a number of ways in which products can be added to your shopping cart for purchase:
A) Quick Order - Select the  icon on the search toolbar, type one or more catalogue numbers into the boxes provided and click submit. The page will change to display the quantities, prices and stock availability for the products you entered. Enter the number you require in the Qty box against the required item and click "Add to cart".
B) From the product detail page - Enter the quantity required against the relevant pack size displayed in the price and availability box, click "Add to cart" button. The display will change to display a summary of the contents of your cart. When you have all the items you require in your shopping cart, click "Check Out".If you are not logged in, the system will prompt you for your login details.
C) From My Product List - When you are logged in the notepad icon  displays on the search toolbar. Clicking this icon displays products in your product list. By checking the boxes you can then add products in the list to your shopping cart for purchasing. To add products to My Product List, select the "Add to My Products List" button located beneath the price and availability information on any product detail page (you need to be logged in to see this button). 3. Check Out
Once you have added items to your shopping cart for purchase the display will change again to allow you to purchase (check out) or modify your order. To continue to purchase online, select "Check Out" (if you have not yet logged in the system will prompt you for your login details), enter your shipping and invoice details into the spaces provided and click "continue" when complete. Enter your payment details into the next page and click "Continue" when complete. 4. What happens next?
First, you will receive an Order Confirmation email. This email simply displays a summary of your order and notifies you that the order has successfully been transmitted to us. Once the order is fulfilled and shipped a Shipment Confirmation email will be sent to you detailing both the order summary as well as your shipping charges, any applicable ice charges and/or sales tax. 5. What if I have questions about my order?
If you have any questions relating to your order please contact our customer service department. 6. What happens the next time that I visit the website?
Next time you visit the site it will only be necessary to login to place an order. |
