| | | Methylated arginine and lysine | | | | Fmoc-Arg(Me,Pbf)-OH | Fmoc-ADMA(Pbf)-OH | Fmoc-Lys(Me,Boc)-OH | | | | Post-translational methylation of arginine and lysine residues is emerging as an important control mechanism for the regulation of protein expression in eukaryotes. Until recently, no efficient methods for the solid phase synthesis of peptides containing these amino acids were available. Novabiochem® therefore has introduced a range of N-methylated amino acids bearing standard Fmoc-compatible protecting groups.

| Biotin-labeled amino acid with enhanced solubility | | | | | | Fmoc-Glu(biotinyl-PEG)-OH | | | | | In contrast to Fmoc-Lys(biotin)-OH, this novel biotin-labeled amino acid has excellent solubility in DMF and other solvent used in SPPS. Tthe PEG-spacer restricts hindrance between the peptide and avidin, leading to better biotin binding. Furthermore, the hydrophilic nature of the PEG minimizes non-specific interactions thar can arise from the spacer group becoming buried in the hydrophobic pocket of proteins. | | |
