Protein : UBE3B

Connectivity 0
Notes The modification of proteins with ubiquitin is an important cellular mechanism for targeting abnormal or short-lived proteins for degradation. Ubiquitination involves at least three classes of enzymes: ubiquitin-activating enzymes, or E1s, ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes, or E2s, and ubiquitin-protein ligases, or E3s. This gene encodes a member of the E3 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family. The encoded protein may interact with other proteins and play a role in stress response. Multiple transcript variants encoding two distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene.

State isoform A
isoform B

State Description Transcript Variant: This variant (1) represents the longer transcript of two (variants 1 and 3) that encode the longer isoform (a). Variant 1 is also known as UBE2B_v1.
Transcript Variant: This variant (2) includes an alternate in-frame exon in the coding region, which results in an early stop codon, compared to variant 1. The encoded isoform (b) is predicted to be nonfunctional because it lacks the HECT domain, as co...
Transcript Variant: This variant (3) represents the shorter transcript of two (variants 1 and 3) that encode the longer isoform (a). Variant 3 uses a different splice in the 5' UTR, compared to variant 1.
