AVP

Lyophilized. Supplied as a trifluoroacetate salt. PROTECT FROM MOISTURE. Synthetic [Arg8]-Vasopressin. An antidiuretic peptide hormone. Released from the hypothalamus during stress. Although noted primarily for its hemodynamic and hemostatic properties, it appears to affect the immune system. Acts via the activation of the adenylate cyclase system resulting in increased cAMP levels (EC50 = 34 nM). Reported to induce an increase in [Ca2+]i in hippocampal neurons via action of VI vasopressin receptors coupled with N-type Ca2+ channels. Purity: ≥97% by HPLC. Sold on the basis of peptide content. CAS 113-79-1.
