Lyophilized. Lyophilized from sterile filtered 35% acetonitrile, 0.1% TFA, 50 µg BSA/µg Activin A. Recombinant, human activin A (disulfide-linked homodimer of two 116-amino acid residue bA subunits) expressed in CHO cells. Mature bA-monomer lacks a potential N-linked glycosylation site and has a calculated molecular weight of 13 kDa. A member of the TGF-b superfamily that is involved in the negative regulation of B lineage lymphocytes. Shown to play an important role in the regulation of hormonogenesis, cellular homeostasis, and differentiation programs. Reported to inhibit endogenous production of IL-6. Biological activity: ED50 = 0.5-2.0 ng/ml as measured by its ability to induce hemoglobin expression in K562 cells. Purity: ≥95% by SDS-PAGE. Contaminants: Endotoxin: ≤100 pg/µg Activin A.
