Off-white solid. HYGROSCOPIC. PACKAGED UNDER INERT GAS. A zwitterionic detergent with an aromatic core that is shown to stabilize and solubilize integral membrane proteins by breaking aggregates. Useful for protein analysis and characterization by two-dimensional (2-D) gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry techniques. Reported to be superior to CHAPS (Cat. No. 220201) in solubilizing both an anion-channel and a G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR). Purity: ≥95% by TLC.
