Z-L-Abu-CONH-ethyl White to off-white solid. PACKAGED UNDER INERT GAS. A cell-permeable dipeptidyl a-ketoamide that acts as a potent, reversible, and active site inhibitor of calpain-1 and -2 (Ki ~ 250 nM). At 10-fold higher concentration it also inhibits cathepsin B (Ki = 2.4 µM). Has a neuroprotective role in the central nervous system following focal ischemia. Purity: ≥95% by HPLC.
