Protein Kinase CKIIa rhCKIIa Liquid. In 500 mM NaCl, 25 mM Tris-HCl, 1 mM DTT, 500 µM PMSF, 50% glycerol, pH 8.5. Recombinant, human casein kinase II a-subunit expressed in E. coli. The catalytic subunit of serine/threonine protein kinase CKII. Suitable for use in reactions where autophosphorylation of the regulatory CKII b-subunit is not desired. Shown to be extremely salt-sensitive with respect to its activity. Specific activity: ≥1.0 unit/mg protein. One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will catalyze the transfer of 1.0 µmol phosphate from ATP to the synthetic casein kinase II substrate RRRDDDSDDD per min at 37°C, pH 8.5. Purity: ≥95% by SDS-PAGE. Contaminants: slight autoproteolysis yields one additional band of 39 kDa; however, no loss in activity is associated with the appearance of this 39 kDa product. Note: 1 mU = 1 milliunit. Ref.: Allende, J.E., and Allende, C.C. 1995. FASEB J. 9, 313. Boldyreff, B., et al. 1994. Cell. Mol. Biol. Res. 40, 391. Issinger, O.-G. 1993. Pharmacol. Ther. 59, 1.
