Comments: This kit provides a simple and convenient assay for measuring the activity of caspase-2 and related caspases that recognize the sequence VDVAD. The assay is based on detection of the cleavage of the substrate VDVAD-AFC. Upon cleavage of the substrate by caspase-2 or related caspases, free AFC emits a yellow-green fluorescence, which can be measured using a fluorometer or a fluorescence microplate reader (~505 nm). The kit can be used for up to 100 tests.
