Acts as an electron transport inhibitor within the cytochrome bc1 segment (complex III) of the respiratory chain. Reported to display strong growth inhibition in mammalian cell culture (IC50 ~ 60 ng/ml for L929 mouse fibroblast) and a wide spectrum of yeasts and fungi (MIC ~ 1.4 ng/ml for Saccharmyces cerevisiae).
