Pseudolysin Lyophilized. Native elastase from Pseudomonas aeruginosa. A metallopeptidase that hydrolyzes insoluble elastin. Shares a significant sequence homology with thermolysin. Pseudomonas aeruginosa elastase has been implicated in the reinforcement of the inflammation process in cases of infection with the bacterium. Specific activity: ≥250 units/mg protein. One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will hydrolyze 1 µg insoluble elastin per h at 37°C. Purity: ≥90% by SDS-PAGE. EC 3.4.24.26. Ref.: Azghani, A.O., et al. 2000. Lung 178, 181.
