Lyophilized. Lyophilized from sterile-filtered 20 mM Tris-HCl, 1M NaCl, 50 µg BSA/µg FGF, pH 7.0. Native, bovine basic fibroblast growth factor. A multi-functional factor with chemotactic activity for numerous cell types. Mitogenic to neuroectoderm- and mesoderm-derived cells. Plays a role in the proliferation of neuronal precursors and in neuronal differentiation. A potent angiogenic factor both in vivo and in vitro. Activates phospholipase D in endothelial cells. Biological activity: ED₅₀ = 50-150 pg/ml, in the absence of heparin, for stimulation of ³H-thymidine incorporation by NR6R-3T3 fibroblasts. Purity: ≥97% by SDS-PAGE.
