White lyophilized solid. First peptide released from fibrinogen upon thrombin action. Useful as a tumor marker for circumscribed and disseminated gastric cancers. Higher levels are reported in nephrotic patients. Also useful in the detection of hypercoagulable state in individuals with atrial fibrillation and in underlying activation of blood coagulation.
