1-[2-(5-Carboxyoxazol-2-yl)-6-aminobenzofuran-5-oxy]-2-(2′-amino-5′-methylphenoxy)-ethane-N,N,N′,N′-tetraacetic Acid, 5Na Yellow solid. PROTECT FROM LIGHT. HYGROSCOPIC. PACKAGED UNDER INERT GAS. Most widely used ratiometric calcium indicator. Highly selective for Ca2+, however, it does bind other divalent and trivalent cations. Useful for fluorescence microscopy. Binding of Ca2+ to FURA 2 results in a shift in its absorption spectra to shorter wavelengths with little change in emission spectra. Purity: ≥95% by HPLC. Excitation max.: 362 nm (low), 335 nm (high), Emission max.: 512 nm (low), 505 nm (high) Ref.: Arkle, S., et al. 1994. Exp. Physiol. 79, 975. Bals, S., et al. 1990.
