GSK-3b Tau Protein Kinase I TPK I Solid. Lyophilized from 0.1 M NH4CO3. Recombinant, human GSK-3b fused at both the N- and C- termini to a His•Tag® sequence and in E. coli. A dual specificity kinase that plays important roles in insulin- and Wnt-mediated cellular signalings. In AD (Alzheimer’s disease), GSK3b has a major role in microtubule stability by its ability to phosphorylate the microtubule associated protein tau. Its known substrates include glycogen synthase, p90rsk, Tau, c-Jun, and CREB. Biological activity: 1 µg GSK-3b maximally phosphorylates 100 ng Tau protein in 30 min in an in vitro kinase assay at 30°C, pH 7.5. Purity: ≥90% by SDS-PAGE. Ref.: Harwood, A., and Braga, V.M. 2003.
