Liquid. In 138 mM NaCl, 25 mM Tris-HCl, 10% glycerol, 0.05% Tween^®-20 detergent, pH 8.0. AVOID FREEZE/THAW CYCLES. Recombinant, human histone deacetylase 5 (HDAC5) (amino acids 657-1123) fused to a His•Tag^® sequence at the C-terminus and expressed in S. frugiperda insect cells using a baculovirus expression system. HDAC5 expression is activated upon cell differentiation. HDAC5, a distinct class II deacetylase, inhibits the activity of determinant transcription factors. The active deacetylase is useful in the study of HDAC5 regulation and inhibitor screening. Specific activity: ≥500 units/µg protein. One unit is equal to the amount of enzyme that will deacetylate 1 picomole fluorescent peptide substrate per min at 30°C. Purity: ≥75% by SDS-PAGE.
