HNE 4-Hydroxy-2-nonenal Liquid. Supplied at 10 mg/ml in ethanol A major aldehyde product formed by peroxidation of w-6-unsaturated fatty acids that is regarded as a specific marker of lipid peroxidation. Inhibits proliferation and induces differentiation of HL-60 human leukemic cells. Also induces cell death in murine alveolar macrophages and in PC12 cells. An inhibitor of state 3 respiration at micromolar levels. Causes a transient increase in cytosolic Ca2+ and irreversibly inhibits Na+, K+-ATPase activity (IC50 = 120 µM). Acts as a reversible inhibitor of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK). Purity: ≥98% by HPLC. RTECS RA8510000, CAS 75899-68-2. Ref.: Soh, Y., et al. 2000. Mol. Pharmacol. 58, 535. Carini, R., et al. 1996.
