Suppresses bone marrow function and induces apoptotic cell death in non-melanoma skin cancer. IFN-a signaling is mediated by JAK1 and TYK2 tyrosine kinases. Note: 1 KU = 1000 units. Activity: ≥3.5 x 10⁴ units/ml. One unit of interferon per ml of medium will cause a 50% inhibition of EMCV-induced cytopathic effect on mouse L929 cells. Units are determined with respect to the NIH international reference standard for mouse IFN-a. Purity: ≥97% by SDS-PAGE.
