Lyophilized. Lyophilized from 0.5X PBS, pH 7.2. PROTECT FROM MOISTURE. Recombinant rat interferon-g (IFN-g) expressed in E. coli as a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide containing 135 amino acids. Purified by chromatographic methods. IFN-g is a type II cytokine produced by activated T cells and natural killer cells. It plays a significant role immunoregulation and has been implicated in the induction of the expression of class II histocompatibility molecules in cells that do not normally express them, resulting in autoimmune disease. Biological activity: Reported as U/mg on a lot-specific basis using a cytopathic affect inhibition assay with NIH/3T3 cells challenged with EMC virus.. Purity: >95% by RP-HPLC, FPLC, and SDS-PAGE. Contaminants: Endotoxins: ≤1 EU/µg IFN-g. Ref.: Alvarado, J., et al. 2005. Immunol. Lett. 99, 109. Di Rosa, M., et al. 2005. Clin. Chem. Lab. Med. 43, 499. Malaguarnera, L., et al. 2005. J. Clin.
