Soluble form of the IL-6 receptor that binds IL-6 and mediates IL-6 signaling through interaction with gp130. Elevated serum levels of soluble IL-6 receptors have been shown to be associated with a number of pathological states including multiple myelomas, adult T cell leukemia, interstitial lung infection, and HIV infection. Biological activity: ED50 = 5-15 ng/ml as measured by its ability to enhance IL-6-induced growth inhibition of mouse M1 myeloid leukemic cells. Purity: ≥97% by SDS-PAGE.
