Reported to be a potent, selective, irreversible inhibitor of proteasome function (k_inact chymotrypsin-like peptidase activity of purified 20S proteasome from bovine brain = 2300 M^-1s^-1 for a-Methylomuralide vs 3060 M^-1s^-1 for Omuralide).
