Clear yellow to orange-brown solution. In sterile isotonic NaCl. USP grade. Each 25 mg/ml, 4 ml (100 mg) vial contains methotrexate sodium equivalent to 100 mg methotrexate. PROTECT FROM LIGHT. Inhibits thymidylate synthetase, is a nonselective de novo purine synthesis inhibitor, and has a significant toxicity profile including hepatotoxicity, pneumonitis, and bone marrow suppression. Potent folic acid antagonist. Induces apoptosis in HL-60 human leukemia cells. Also useful as an antitumor agent. Purity: ≥95% by HPLC. RTECS MA1225000, CAS 59-05-2.
