Liquid. In 250 mM KCl, 100 mM Tris-HCl, 5 mM MgSO4, pH 5.1. AVOID FREEZE/THAW CYCLES. Native neuron specific enolase from human brain. A dimeric isoenzyme (gg) found in adult neurons that functions as a neuronal growth factor. A specific quantitative marker for neuronal damage and death. Also serves as a useful marker for neuroblastoma, small cell lung carcinomas, and neuroendocrine cancers. Useful markers for neuronal differentiation and as a standard in ELISA assays. Specific activity: ≥20 units/mg protein. One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will convert 1 µmol of 2-phospho-D-glyceric acid to phosphoenolpyruvate per min at 25°C.
