Pleiotropic cytokine which inhibits growth of A375 melanoma cells and mouse M1 myeloid leukemic cells. Enhances the growth of both endothelial and hematopoietic cells. Has also been reported to have growth stimulatory activities on normal fibroblasts, AIDS-Kaposis sarcoma cells, and a human erythroleukemic cell line, TF-1. Biological activity: ED50 = 0.15-0.30 ng/ml as measured in a cell proliferation assay using a factor-dependent human erythroleukemic cell line, TF-1. Purity: ≥97% by SDS-PAGE.
