Acidic, Ca2+-binding glycoprotein found in a variety of embryonic and adult tissues containing actively proliferating and remodeling cells. One of the most abundant glycoproteins secreted by osteoblasts. Reported to play a role in the differentiation and maintenance of dermis. Involved in the regulation of bone mineralization.
