Lyophilized solid. Recombinant inactive human procaspase-3. Can be activated by recombinant caspase-8 (Cat. No. 218769). Proteolytic processing of this inactive proenzyme generates 17 kDa and 12 kDa subunits which, when assembled as a tetramer (a pair of heterodimers), form the active caspase. Like other procaspases, procaspase-3 has short N-terminal prodomains and is considered to be a downstream or “effector” enzyme. Purity: ≥90% by SDS-PAGE. M.W. 32,000. Ref.: Hirata, H., et al. 1998.
