Sphingomyelin Cholinephosphohydrolase
Sphingomyelin Phosphodiesterase

Liquid. In 250 mM phosphate buffer, 50% glycerol, pH 7.5. Native sphingomyelinase from Staphylococcus species. May be applied exogenously to initiate the sphingomyelin signaling pathway. Has very little activity on phosphatidylcholine. Specific activity: ≥100 units/mg protein. One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will hydrolyze 1 µmol of trinitrophenylaminolauryl (TNPAL)-sphingomyelin per min at 37°C, pH 7.4. EC 3.1.4.12, CAS 9031-54-3.
