White solid. HYGROSCOPIC. PACKAGED UNDER INERT GAS. A putative second messenger that mobilizes calcium from intracellular stores via an IP3-independent pathway. Activates phospholipase D (PLD) and inhibits chemotactic motility and invasiveness of tumor cells. Also stimulates growth of quiescent Swiss/3T3 fibroblasts. Inhibits activation of caspases that cleave PARP and lamins during Fas- and ceramide-mediated apoptosis. Purity: ≥95% by TLC. CAS 26993-30-6.
