Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor121 Lyophilized. Recombinant, human VEGF121 (121-amino acid splice variant of the human vascular endothelial growth factor VEGF) expressed in S. frugiperda insect cells. VEGF121 is dominantly expressed in most tumor cell lines. Forms a biologically active homodimer and evidence suggests that it is also biologically active as a heterodimer with other VEGF splice variants or PIGF. Biological activity: ED50 ≥1 ng/ml as measured by the stimulation of 3H-thymidine incorporation by human umbilical vein endothelial cells and bovine aortic endothelial cells. In vivo effects using the 13-day-old chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay can be seen between 0.5-4 µg. Purity: ≥90% by HPLC. Contaminants: Endotoxin: ≤0.1 ng/µg prtoein.
