Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor-C Lyophilized. Recombinant, rat VEGF-C (129-amino acids lacking the N- and C-terminal extensions and containing only the middle third VEGF homology domain) expressed in S. frugiperda insect cells. Forms primarily non-covalent linked dimers that can phosphorylate VEGF-R3 (Flt-4). Its actions are mediated via VEGFR-2 on vascular endothelial cells. VEGF-C has been shown to be involved in the regulation of growth and differentiation of lymphatic endothelium. Biological activity: ED50 ≥200 ng/ml as measured by the stimulation of VEGFR-3 phosphorylation in porcine endothelial cells. Purity: ≥90% by SDS-PAGE. Contaminants: Endotoxin: <0.1 ng/µg VEGF-C. Supplemented with 0.1% BSA or HSA. Ref.: Amioka, T., et al. 2002. Eur. J. Cancer 38, 1413. Kirkin, V., et al. 2001. Eur. J. Biochem. 268, 5530. Mandriota, S.J., et al. 2001. EMBO J. 20, 672.
