White solid. Native, human luteinizing hormone from pituitary gland. A heterodimeric glycoprotein hormone required for ovulation, spermatogenesis, and the biosynthesis of sex steroids. Biological specificity has been attributed to the b-chain. Potency: ≥5000 IU/mg (WHO IRP 68/40). Biological activity: ≥ 5,000 IU/mg (WHO 1st IRP 68/40 Standard). Purity: ≥95% by weight. Contaminants: hFSH, hTSH: ≤0.5%; hCG: ≤0.05%. Prepared from tissue of individuals that have been shown by certified tests to be negative for HBsAg and for antibodies to HIV and HCV.
